Minutes from the March 10, 2009 meeting of the Lake Erie Wheelers:
The meeting, which was held at Ray's Indoor MTB Park, was called to
order by Club President Joanne Belovich. As the minutes from the previous
meeting (held on February 10, 2009) were posted on the club website,
Ms. Belovich decided to dispense with the formal reading of the minutes,
and asked the members present to approve the minutes as posted, or else
amend them. The minutes were accepted, as posted, by a show of hands
of the members. This was followed by the Treasurer's Report, given by
Pete Norris, which indicated a club account balance that was adequate
for the projected operating costs for upcoming events and activities.
The Membership Chairman (Dan Izuka) gave his report: as of the March
meeting, there were seventy-nine (79) paid memberships, with more expected
to arrive. Lake Erie Wheeler members who have not renewed their memberships
before the end of the first week in April will not be able to receive
their membership packets at the April meeting (but may receive them
afterwards).
Dan Izuka suggested putting into the membership packets a full set of
the NOACA bicycle road maps (for Cuyahoga, Medina, Lorain, Geauga, and
Lake counties). The general consensus of the members present was one
of approval, and Dan said he would look into the matter.
The club vice president, Greg James, was unable to attend due to an
emergency, so any discussion of Rail-n-Trail/Road Route Ramble was set
aside until the next meeting. Club secretary John Whitaker, with the
consent of Madame President, passed around a sign-up sheet for volunteers
for RnT/RRR.
Joanne announced that the annual Buzzard Day ride was this coming up
this Sunday (March 15th), starting out at 9:00am at Bonnie Park in Strongsville.
It was confirmed that there are still some club jerseys and RnT/RRR-2008
T-shirts available, for any who still wants one that didn't get one,
or who did and wants one or two more.
The April meeting is scheduled to be held at the Bike Authority store
in Broadview Heights, at 7:00pm on April 14th. The proprietor, Sherman
McKee, will exhibit some of the newest products and services; refreshments
will be available.
Following this, the meeting adjourned for a presentation by John Satory,
the Rogue Mechanic, on bicycle maintenance.
There are still several club jerseys and RnT/RRR-208 T-shirts available,
for any who wants one that didn't get one, or who did and wants one
or two more
